due diligence opinions, novelty searches, infringement, validity and freedom to
operate opinions and for IP support in licensing deals and other commercial
transactions.

and he has frequently been called on to represent patent proprietors and
opponents at oral proceedings before the EPO’s Opposition Divisions and Boards
of Appeal, both in person and online.
Julian is
passionate about the importance to small and medium size businesses of
protecting their IP and the significant value which can added by independent IP
practitioners. He served as President of FICPI, the world’s leading
international organisation for IP attorneys in private practice, for an
extended term of four years, from 2018-2022, and as Secretary General for nine

regular bilateral meetings with major patent offices and other organisations
around the world (EPO, EUIPO, the European Commission, USPTO, JPO, KIPO, CNIPA,
WIPO) to present the views and needs of the profession and its clients and he
has an extensive network of trusted colleagues in other countries who he
regularly calls upon when his clients need special advice or assistance in
another jurisdiction.
